Реципрокные транслокации с участием хромосом нормального кариотипа (А-хромосомы) и добавочных В-хромосом, описаны в 1978 у кукурузы; к настоящему времени имеются линии, у которых в эти перестройки вовлечены все элементы генома (плечи хромосом) кукурузы, что позволяет вести с их использованием картирование генов и мутаций.
